Hi Newb here, I'm trying to spec my 1st build.

I was suggested the ASUS P5W DH Deluxe, but turns out its "old tech"
So I'm after something newer/similar in terms of the Remote Control (ASUS Digital Home Feature)

I came across the Asus P5KC Combo Intel P35 which seems future proof but doesn't seem to have the ASUS Digital Home Feature!

Are there any other boards with the Remote control feature as this would be perfect for my build
(Use:Internet surfing, some games,Cad, Photoshop, multi-media, big-screen/home theatre)

Are you planning on OCing the HTPC? The P5W DH isn't a bad board, so it being "old tech" it's not like Socket A or anything like that. If you're not planning on pushing the boundaries with your HTPC I'd have thought the P5W DH would meet your needs.

I wont be Overclocking...
EDIT: Its not really a HTPC... But similar, only in the form of a Tower... (Antec p182 case)

I wouldn't worry about the board being old hat. For what you have said you want then that board will be fine.

It is just that it is 975 based rather then x38.

Your problem now will be finding somewhere that stocks it.

I am currently build 4 boxes around the similar P5WS64Pro board. Yes it is slightly behind the latest and greated but they work fine with the Q6600 and aren't that far behind at stock speed. They also happen to have 4 x PCI-E x16 slots and DDR2 so they have a feature that I wanted that can't get with x38 or P35 boards.

However if you have your heart set on changing the board then look at

Asus P5V-VM DH

This is another Digital Home board but is based on a Via Chipset, would make a great digital home, htpc but probably not what you want for the other tasks.

It is also an mATX as are most boards coming out now aimed at the digital home as they are seen as being in livining rooms so small is good.

Personally I would try and track down a P5W DH Deluxe as it still the best board for your mix.

If you do decide to go with the P5W-DH Deluxe, there's one for sale in the MM right now... although I see that you don't have access to the MM yet. Might be worth you looking for JonB's email address in his trust and seeing if it's still available.

Ohhh I'm assuming I don't have enough post counts to access the other areas of the forum? :( :( :(
MM? whats that? Is there a For Sale section?

I know the sell this on ****** http://www.******.com/product/113951

Yes, sorry, my post was a bit cryptic... MM = Members Market, and you're right that your post count means you've not got access to it yet. Can't remember the exact number required, but it's in the FAQ. It's a place where certain items, mostly PC bits 'n' bobs, cameras, satnav, etc... can be sold 2nd hand.

If you enable your trust and add an email address to it, then I'll send you the details of JonB's advert so you can see what he's offering and if you're interested.

Cheers :)
