ok, so here's the story: currently have 3x dell monitors [old, but top of the line studio monitors of 2003], and my centre one is starting to give up the ghost [got all of them for free, so not really gonna complain].

so i'm thinking it's time to modernise, but here's the trouble:

do i go 4k+freesync [and lose ultrawide and a bit of framerate]

do i go ultrawide [either single ultrawide or 3x 1080p screens]

do i go for the 144hz ips freesync monitor from asus? [gain framerate+pic quality]

i'm really not sure, this is a working and gaming machine, i could use the remaining 2 functional dells as extra screens for working [with just one screen for gaming] but i'm not so fond of the notion of sacrificing my current metre and a half of 5040*1200 screen real-estate in games.

help me ocuk! :(

edit: budget wise i'm looking no more than £500 for whatever i get.

I'm running single 290x, and i'm used to lower framerates than most on these forums would accept as trade off for running massive resolutions.

That thread is interesting, i cant deny dells are good as i wouldn't be considering this if my 12 year old centre screen hadnt finally started to die.

Whilst I enjoyed having 3 screens personally I just can't be bothered with the added hassle of it, I'm moving to a 40" 4K screen at some point soon.

Its certainly a possibility, a big 4k screen with the two remaining screens just for added work space (I dont like having 2 windows on one screen).

Ill admit itll be good not having to perform various stages of hacking to get games to work triple screen, just fire up and forget, but ive grown used to using the fov peripheral vision as a form of zoom lol.
