..or 'A Testament To Build Quality'.

So my first generation Deathadder died. I've had it for as long as i can remember, in fact buying it when they were first released. It's survived through thousands of hours of gaming without any noticeable degradation in performance, build integrity or cosmetic wear. Sadly it did not survive the BF4 rage that i succumbed to last weekend.

Thinking it impossible to find a direct replacement, and having searched fruitlessly for another 1st gen on Amazon, i opted for a 'Chroma', the latest and greatest Deathadder in the series. What a disappointment. The scroll wheel was clearly defective, but i decided to have a play with it for a few days to see if i could get along with said mouse and see if it would be a worthy replacement for my beloved, but deceased, 1st Gen.

Frankly, it's a no go. After being wed to the one mouse for all these years i really only want more of the same. Fortunately there are 2nd Gen Deathadders to be found, those with the '3.5G' sensor and they have exactly the same body but with a braided cable, which is nice. Needless to say i snapped one up and honestly, i couldn't be happier to have that familiar feeling rodent back in my hand. The build quality is flawless too, as i am used to.

Have Razer products declined in quality over the years or did i just get unlucky with my defective purchase? Anybody else prefer the older Deathadders and is anybody still using one that's lasted as long as mine did?

I've actually ordered another 2nd Gen Deathadder too so that in ten years when the need arises again, i'll already have the perfect replacement sat in a box somewhere ready to go!
