Having looked at the latest 12" netbooks for around £350 to £400 it struck me tonight that there is really a big gap in the market. These netbooks seem to be getting bigger, heavier and more expensive.

If someone were to make a really small, light netbook with around a 7" or 9" screen. Make it really light. The CPU and RAM could be quite small because it's not a laptop replacement. As most users would just be browsing the internet or reading documents then Linux and OpenOffice should cut down license costs and therefore purchase price. Hey, why not even use a solid state drive as people aren't going to need huge storage space and the ability to throw it in a bag would be important, not to mention bootup speed (this isn't a laptop replacement afterall). I reckon someone could make one of those for the sub-£200 market and it would be an absolute winner!

Oh, wait...
