a new build ... comments appreciated.

Looks like a nice rig at that price. Should hold up nicely in anything adobe and give decent enough performance in current and future games if you knock the AA down a touch.

Bung in a new graphics card in a couple of years time and she'll see you through windows 7 easily enough :-)

Thanks again for all your comments...

looking at review sites the Be Quiet 650W seems quite popular. I will take a look but its not in stock @ OC's right now.

Oh, finally, is it worth risking B stock as the Lian-Li v1010 is availble for £144?

Ta,

yeah, i would...i bought my second 22" monitor from B stock because it was no longer available of the main part and the monitor was in mint condition, as far as i can see its only been outa the packaging once...its that good.

Get the D0 stepping version of the i7! I just ordered myself one after I realised my C0 version refused to be overclocked decently :( Can't wait to OC to 4ghz :)

Go back to the system spec in the first post, drop the sound card as suggested.

Now, take the £300 you've just saved and put it in a box, or buy a years worth of games. Assuming the former, in the unlikely event that the system starts to struggle in 12 to 18 months time use the £300 to buy a new mb+cpu+ram, or whatever, yay two new systems for the price of one :D

yeah i agree with ecat...

it will be a bit better value for money...and in the 12 to 18 months or so, there will be higher spec CPU's at the lower price.

That's what I was orignally going to do!!

In a year, if I sell used x3 720 BE, Mobo and RAM I can topup £300 and have better picking's from i7 range or maybe the i5.

But, as I have the money right now, i'm going to take the plunge and commit to i7.

:)

It's alive!!!

Thought I would share a couple of pictures of my final build...

Lian-Li was a breeze to use, ample room for upgrades!! The bequiet PSU was a great recommendation too...

Thanks again to all who helped spec me a system...

He won't be for long. You ordered your 275 yet? :p

...very nearly did today until I realised that by some combination of alchemy, black magic and settings I can get both the 2D clocks and some decent fan profiles working in Windows 7 :D
