Press TAB to see post, Do you see you HDD in the IDE's ?
Mine also shows no SATA II drives but boots fine. My SATA HDD and Optical Drive show in the IDE's
Is your RAM in the first 2 slots as I cant see any in your board.

Thanks very much Si Lad :). I will check next time concerning the HDD. I've installed the RAM in the first two slots as shown above. Though I'm still rather confused about the fan. I hope your break in period is shaping up nicely?

Yeah its going well, Idling at 19 now and 30 when gaming. Still at stock speeds.
Will try and get the RAM at 1600 next as its running at 1333 atm.
I dont like where the BIOS reset jumper is on these boards. I am going to run a fan extension cable from the jumper next time I take my graphics card out.

The second problem is that the heatsink's fan seems to be attempting to start itself before immediately turning itself off again.

AMD Cool and Quiet probably kicking in at start up which is controlling the fan speed. On boot the fan spins up and then turns off until it gets hot again etc,,,

Ah, I see. Thank you for telling me Richy1204. Well, fingers crosse d, I now just have to wait for Windows 7, cable clips etc. to try and make mycabling a reasonably neat affair. I will post some final pictures when it's all up and running.

Just one last thing, is it ok for the wires from the fan to be touching the heatsink as shown in the picture above. please forgive my ignorance. :)

yea they are fine touching the heatsink its not like the heatsink will get hot enough to melt the wiring or anything like that

Well, it's finally made :o. The one big problem I had with the cabling was trying to trying to close the side of the case with the 1x24-pin ATX cable positioned there. As you can see, it is on the Fortress's window side but I hope to remedy that. I will also try to improve the cabling bit by bit.

There is still one last thing that is bothering me. As mentioned above, the heatsink's fan turns itself on and off again. Richy1204 helpfully mentioned that it could be AMD's Cool and Quiet technology controlling the fan speed.

I should have made myself clearer because it seems to be trying to start every 3-4 seconds before turning itself off. It's almost as if it is stuttering. I can't imagine the temperature would change that quickly for it to regulate itself like that? Could I have a faulty heatsink fan or is it more likely to be something else? I've doubled checked that it is connected correctly.

Sounds about right starts every 3-4 seconds then turns off, then 3-4 seconds later spins up for a bit then turns off and repeats again.

Once the computer has booted i.e loaded windows then fan should say on longer and spin faster.
