A New Skylake System

I've decided to upgrade to Skylake from AMD's FM2+ platform. The system will be for gaming and light video editing. My current case is a Corsair Obsidian 350D which is why I've chosen an MATX motherboard. Since I want to give video editing a try with some footage from games like ARMA 3, I'm not 100% sure about my choice of CPU. Should I go for the i7 6700k instead and will 32GB of RAM be enough for light video editing? The PSU will come from my current system and the rest will be sold on or put into a box in case of emergency's.

CPU: Core i5-6600K
Motherboard: Maximus VIII Gene
RAM: HyperX Fury 32GB (4x8GB) 2133MHz DDR4
GPU: GeForce GTX 960 4GB
PSU: Cooler Master G650M
HDD: 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black

It's funny you both mention Broadwell as I did think about that option. The motherboard would have to be MATX though as my case will only accept MATX or ITX and changing the case isn't really an option in my current situation.

This machine is going to be for gaming and light video editing. Is X99 good for gaming? I'm also going to need to be able to overclock the CPU. Does Broadwell/Skylake remedy the problems Haswell had with overclocking? I saw in a Linus Tech Tips video that Haswell was well known for having large gaps in the "silicon lottery". Ie, one chip overclocked greatly compared to another?

There's not going to be a huge difference between a 6700k and a 5820k for gaming, but the 5820k will be a good chunk better for video editing.

Skylake does offer some interesting features on it's mobos though, check them out and see if any of them are worth it for you.

This is a little off topic, but do motherboards still get that horrible BIOS error which trys to run their CPU at max voltage? I was watching a YT video and the guy said he turned his system on after building it, went into the BIOS and his Gigabyte board was running his i7 4790k at 1.501v. I'm not much of an overclocker, but from the tone of his voice, this seemed bad lol

If that were to happen to me, I wouldn't know what to do and what was a safe voltage lol

Having just out together a few Skylake systems last week I would add that the new cpus run very cool, much cooler than the Haswell systems I'don't used previously. Might be easier to keep an over clocked Skylake quiet if noise bothers you?

The overvolting at stock with the 4790k was an issue on early bios versions from a few vendors. Happened on my Z87 Maximus formula too. But fixed quickly with a bios update. Haven't read anything about skylake having this problem.
