A New Ultrawide... which to go for?

I have previously owned an ASUS PG348Q, was very happy with it apart from the glow in each corner.

I had to RMA two of these monitors due to this issue but it seems like this is the norm with this monitor.

I am getting a new build sorted and I am considering the Samsung CF791 34"
I know this monitor is freesync so my 1080ti will be useless in those terms, but will I actually notice?

Any opinions on owners of this monitor or fellow people that enjoy Ultrawide like I do I would be most grateful? :)

Have this and love it, with the 1080ti. I don't really notice tearing tbh but I have never used Gsync. I do however get periods in BF1 that I appears to lose 20 or so frames, I think caused by my 5820k being naughty.

Thanks mate :) I am considering... I don't tend to play a lot of shooters anymore anyway. End up getting my ass kicked by kids and getting annoyed so stick with single player lol
I'm getting the 7820x so I'm hoping it won't do that for me... :(

Will the panel definitely do 100Hz without FreeSync? some are limited to 60Hz without FreeSync though can't see anything to suggest this one is.

Could give FastSync a whirl 1080ti probably has enough horsepower to make it worth trying.

This is a good point... i'm trying to find this out online now... I was thinking it was 100hz native even without the freesync.. :S

Update: Just been on the phone to Samsung and they say that the 100hz is native regardless of GPU or Freesync :D so think I'll purchase!!

Did you purchase in the end? Looking at the same monitor and can't make my mind up. Wondering if I should opt for X34A instead.

Yes i did purchase... the default sharpness levels were way off but looked ok when lowered. The monitor is great but for gaming i really needed gsync after all! So i went with the IPS Asus 165hz 2560x1440 27" monitor instead!

Thought id never go back after having ultrawide but 27" and 2560x1440 is definately the sweet spot for gaming i reckon :) so many games dont support ultrawide that i play so 2560x1440 makes more sense

Interesting, thanks! Perhaps worth me reconsidering then. I'm using a Crossover Blacktune 1440p from Korea with God knows how much latency. I feel like a standard 1440p would only have the advantage in terms of refresh rate or latency... Hence looking at Ultrawides.

If you don't mind some BLB on corners, i recommend the Asus PG348Q. The desktop experience is great with all that extra room but as for gaming I'm not so sure anymore. It does look great don't get me wrong but when some games don't support that resolution it becomes a pain. :) plus this is the first time i havent opted for SLI. Running a single card at the moment and it's great
