ola,

i've got my ibook G4 at the moment, which is on it's last legs and i want to put Kubuntu on it... not a problem, or so it would seem...

...until i realise that i have endnote 9 on it (the mac os x partition), which if i reformatted would be lost... and it's the student-one computer one license- nonsense - i've lost the registration/license documents for it... and rather stupidly the *.dmg file i used to install it!

how can i now install Kubuntu without loosing my licensed software?

any suggestions are welcome!

cheers

dan.

(p.s. please don't mock me for not being organised ;))

buy an external harddisk and use superduper to backup your harddisk before you install linux

Get a firewire one and it will be bootable too. Very handy - you can switch between installs just by plugging in the hard drive. If your iBook is dying it is also a way to put less stress on it if you use the external drive.
