Hi

I'm hoping I can get some advice here, I have upgraded all my system and thought it might be a good idea to try two monitors.

To those ends I duly purchased two Dell u2711 monitors, I am running amd Radeon HD 6900.

Im not sure what I was expecting but how do you open stuff on the other monitor? or is it just for stretching open stuff across it?

I guess I thought I would be able to open files on both. Do I need to purchase software in order to make them more versatile?

The resolution recommended by Dell 2560 x1440 set on one screen but not the the other. Windows recommends a lot less on the other. can I not have them both set to the same?

Is there any software I need to buy to set them up as I have done nothing withem as yet and the paper work in the box gives no clue either.

Have I made a cockup buying these?

T.T.

Both monitors should be set to output the same res (2560 x1440), on the desktop you should be able to drag whatever you want on to the 2nd monitor so long as it is set to 'extend desktop' rather than clone etc.

Games will run only on the primary monitor unless you run in it a window and extend it across both, or have some kind of eyefininty 3 monitor setup. If you want to do fancier things with windows on the desktop there are a few programs out there, ultramon etc.

HI

Thanks for the reply, I can set one monitor to the 2600 x1440 but not tht other ? it only will allow 1920x1080 i dont know why that should be.

I should be able to have 2600 on both shouldnt I?

Hi there,

May I ask, are you using dual-link DVI connections to both monitors and have you installed the most recent AMD graphics drivers (with catalyst control centre)?

Also, may I ask what operating system you are using?

It should indeed run at 2560x1440 on both monitors.
