MY dell xps 420 psu has died, I bought a new standard atx one which does not fit and also get psu fan, gpu fan errors on boot-up when I tried.

Should I just buy a new psu that fits (recommendations needed needed this xps 420 case), psu fan (idk what motherboard/socket), gpu? or new build

I'm hoping that I can use parts I have to build something cheap.
cx500
corsair xms3 1.65v 8gb
500gb HDD (from xps)
CD drive (from xps)
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / 2.4 GHz (from xps)
No os needed

which leaves a motherboard and case? motherboard because the dell one looks large and I am unsure whether this would fit in a standard case.

Thanks

A cheap, secondhand 775 motherboard should do. When purchasing you will find out whether its atx or matx. A case can then be bought cheap to suit.

All in all, could cost as little as £60-£80.

The mobo in the XPS 420 is a BTX. So you may be better off doing as Doomspeed recommended get a secondhand ATX/mATX mobo and a case.
Do you have a budget?

I expect it shouldn't cost too much for requirements? its just for parents to watch programmes connected to 32in tv. Could you just recommend me something decent @ low price? Is what dunn2010 good for that?
So mobo with integrated graphics i think, case and a cpu fan? is my 1.65v rated ram ok with the quad core processor?

Also with the case if I got a small one will I run into problems with space because the power supply is not modular.

Thanks
