Hello guys,

Recently I built a PC with ASUS X99 Strix Gaming mobo, but a few days ago I had to move in to a new house and so afterwards something happened with a sound on the computer.

Basically, I have three ways to connect my speakers (Creative T40 Series II) to the PC:
- A 3.5mm cable to the front of the case
- A 3.5mm cable straight to the mobo at the back
- Using an External DAC, with a 3.5mm input on one end and USB on the other (currently using FiiO K1 for my headphones)

If I connect my speakers to any of 3.5mm inputs present on the case or motherborad, the sound feels having added +50dB bass on every single song. Sometimes this over the top noise gets slightly quieter but no music nor melody is possible to hear anymore. However If I connect my speakers through the DAC it all sounds just fine like before, so It cannot be the fault of the Speakers. Then i tried playing a music through the monitor (which is connected to the GPU using DP 1.4), it sounds just fine as well, which I think means that the onboard mobo's audio system works fine as well.

The first thing I tried was to clean reinstall my audio Realtek drivers, but it did not help at all. I was thinking that maybe there is some kind of equalizer on Windows 10, but couldn't find any installed, so wondering if any of you would know how to lower the bass and voices on the PC as highs and mids on calm melodies seems to play fine with just a very slight distortion.

The link to the SoundCloud for an example that I have recorder using my phone. It pretty much shows the problem.

Sounds like interference to me, which can be relatively common problem when it comes to onboard audio. I'm not sure how that would manifest though after only just moving the PC's location. If you've added no new hardware and it was fine before, then that's an odd one.

The monitor's speakers or any audio output it has, connected to the GPU, doesn't use the onboard audio. Only the 3.5mm analogue outputs on the motherboard do. GPU has it's own sound controller.

Windows 10 has been causing plenty of sound card issues for people, especially this anniversary update, or whatever it is (I don't use W10). Maybe an update has started this problem?

Exactly, all I did was turned off the PC (can't remember now if there was an update installed before turning off. Maybe?.. ), turned of the power block, unplugged it and left it overnight. Next day moved into new place, plugged in all the things needed, started playing the music and THIS has happened.

Didn't know that. So basically the DAC I have is also independent on the audio control. But the motherboard is not showing any signals either, the code on it is AA, so everything should be fine onboard I guess. Guess I'll wait for the new update, not a big rush really. And Thank for the help, I really appreciate it :)
