Hey all,

Having a problem with my mates laptop, for some reason it wont let me wipe its hard drive and start a fresh install, I have tried everything but it just wont work, when I try to install windows fresh it will either

a) Let me install it by doing a quick wipe and then go onto say "NTOSKRNL.EXE is missing or corrupt."

b) Just will not let me do a full wipe, just freezes.

Any help would be awesome.

test it with memtest and some sort of hdd diagnostic tool, or perhaps its the disc or dvd drive reading incorrectly?

Done all that, including trying to write a new boot sector, repair the one which is broken, wiping using a 3rd party software via a boot CD and checking using other software.

If any could point me to the direction of some good software which might do the trick that would be ace aswell.

have you tried a different xp disc or different cd drive (i appreciate this might be a little awkward, with it being a laptop!)

Need to find a differnt XP disc, do you think my local shop will copy me one saying how i dont need the serial codes?
