Guys,

Can someone who is on a pay monthly contract with o2 please help me out.

Basically I have set up mms on my iphone and the wife's. Is it right that when you receive an mms message you have to log onto the website and put a pin number in to retrieve it.

Can it not be setup to just show the actual picture in the message instead of faffing about?

cheers

What iPhone is it? The 2G ones don't support MMS, the 3G and 3GS with the 3.0 software support MMS so the picture should appear.

I have a 3G iPhone with OS 3.01 and the wife has a 3Gs iPhone also with OS 3.01.

When we both received the mms setup text from o2 it shows the o2 (bubbles) picture in the body of the message so I am stumped as to why it is asking to login to o2 to look at the pictures we are sending each other.

Something is wrong there then, it should work. If you've had the confirmation MMS then that's even weirder

I have sent an email to o2.
The wife has just received the iphone yesterday and the telephone number has been ported today.
She is unable to log into her account on the o2 website so maybe everything is not setup just yet.

Well its got something to do with the wife's iphone as she keeps getting an error when trying to send mms.

I went onto o2's website and it says that there are certain settings that need changing in the cellular data network settings.

i.e APN & MMS settings

change idata.o2.co.uk to mobile.o2.co.uk for Cellular data

&

change idata.o2.co.uk to wap.o2.co.uk for MMS

Another thing I noticed after changing the above settings was when I sync the iphone with itunes and I check for updates it asks if I want to update the carrier settings i.e changing the above back to default.

The 3G has to open the link in a browser, the 3GS can view the photos directly in the image viewer.

It absolutely does not, they both work in exactly the same way.

I've got the 3g recently and everytime I request for MMS to be setup it never comes through with the final message. Tried changing cellular data settings too and still nothing....any ideas?

The 3G will and should receive MMS just as any other phone would, hell mine does and has done before Apple even came out with MMS, if you know what I refer to.

With the 3.0 OS, I first received the O2 Welcome MMS that Olly has shown up there, and since then I've received MMS's fine via the standard Apple SMS/MMS app.

My phone seems to be fine, I can receive the picture message from 1010 and view it as normal.

It must be something to do with the wife's new 3Gs. I will try again tonight when she gets back from work.

Ive had this problem aswel, tried restoring, checking settings. But I still get the MSG telling me to log onto O2 to retrieve the picture.

I just downloaded the MMS app from appstore to view the pics, obviously I need to get it sorted because the 3G can actually view pics now, so wonder why mine and others cannot.
