A question about bank holidays

Is it the law that these are taken in addition to standard days off? The reason I ask is I have 2 days a week off, a sunday and then a week day. However when its a bank holiday I *have* to take that bank holiday as my day off which seems a bit unfair to me. Anyone know?

I think it depends on your contract, i used to work for a company were they took the days off your annual holiday allowance

You might not have to take it out of your annual leave... but you might not get paid for it either.

Most full-time jobs I had paid bank holidays.
