Hello All,
I am an owner of a launch XFX 7970 reference model.I have just received a nice redundancy payout so I am going to pick up a second card to crossfire but I would like to hear everyone`s thoughts on the best option for a second card.I have the corsair 650d case which I will add another side fan to and my mobo is the ASUS p8z68-v/gen 3 so the cards will be pretty snug. Will I be better off going for another ref model as both of them will then be blowing out the back?
Thank you all in advance :)

If im correct then even if you get another card but its at a higher clock it will downclock to the lower card, personally i would just get the same card but that's just because i like things to look the same, both cards blowing out the back is fine

Thanks for the reply, but that`s what I meant.Mines already clocked at 1150/1600 anyway so I am more concerned about overheating and getting rid id of the heat before it becomes an issue for the top card.I have read that the dual fan cards that blow it out the sides are no good for crossfire? Anyone running two of those models? I thought maybe a dual fan for the top slot and the ref on the bottom as it wont be kicking heat up and into the top one.

I think Crossfire now works with cards at different speeds, but don't quote me on it. They way Crossfire works with alternate frame rate it doesn't really give you much benefit to having one faster card though, maybe even a hindrance. BUT the differences in clock speed are next to nothing on modern cards and the slower card can easily be clocked up

Thanks for the comments peeps.Any suggestions on make of reference? My only worry is the noise as the ref models are LOUD! lol Really,I would like a twin cooler on the top amd a ref on the bottom unless that is a problem.
