Hi there, please can you help. I have a brand new PC and I have 4gig of ram, in windows it shows up as 4gig of ram, which is brilliant, before I installed windows updates and all my drivers for my hardware and everything it just showed 3gigs but now it shows 4gigs, but anyways I just wondered is the OS actually using the full 4gigs or because I have windows vista 32bit ultimate is it just using 3gigs?

One of my friends said he thinks its using 3.2gigs...so I just wanted to get to the bottom of this question once and for all?

Thanks in advance,

scotchegg-yup ur friend is correct, just go vista64.if u decide to stay on vista32 then 3GB better than 2GB anyhoo

I was wanting a more spacific answer, like an exact number of how much memory my OS is using or how I can find out?

Thanks in advance,

Take your installed RAM, deduct the size of your graphics card and the size of your swapfile and that's roughly how much available RAM is left. Usually 3-3.5Gb.

If you want to know how much is actually in use, then have a look in the Task Manager on the Performance tab.
