Why has the £250 you get from submitting a video clip to ITV's 'You've Been Framed' not risen with the cost of inflation?

It was £250 back in 1990. It's £250 in 2008.

How much money should you be getting in today's money?

lol write to harry hill.

It's dross tv and they now know everyone has faked the stunts so they are not original and only worth 250 quid. If they gave you more it would encourage more parents to film their 2 year olds going down a steep hill in their toy cars and eating pavement.

I thought it's always been £250.

Thanks to JollyGreen. £409 might good earner to film someone falling of white garden furniture.

Is it also true that that £250 they give to you means the clips is theirs to sell to American counterpart shows etc? Has anyone been on holiday to seem themselves ridiculed on Spanish TV in a Home Video show?

It depends really on what you mean by inflation, if you mean inflation in the consumer price index then it should be no where near 409 pounds, if you mean inflation in real gdp then once again.

Personally I think the Harry Hill era is the best and the reason I've started watching again.

Dj_Jestar, I used to hate the show, but realised that if people are that idiotic, they need to be shown and shamed on national T.V.

So the question is back open again...

Because the quality of the show has declined, inversely proportionate to that of inflation.
This is the case. It would have risen with the CPI (consumer price index) instead of inflation, due to Gordon's new plans, but the main reason has been the accessibility of clips due to the internet and sharing, having more and more clips has driven demand down, the surplus creates the downward spiraling prices.

If the accessibility of home recorded clips stayed at the same level, you should be earning more but now even to get £250 off you've been framed would be a miracle. They've started blurring out pre-2000 dates on the video recorders clips to give the illusion of freshness, which just doesn't work. YBF = Crap tv.
