I might have missed something here but why do all cpu-z type programs call the e6300 a conroe chip?

I thought the codename for this chip was "allendale", am I missing something?

or just being stupid, could someone explain.. :D

Bah, this again ><

Quad = Kenstfield
e6xxx series = conroe
e4xxx series = allendale

The 6300 and 6400 are conroes with 2mb cache disabled, they still have it on the chip.

They call the 6300 and 6400 an Allendale, but it isn't - it's a conroe with 2mb disabled. Supposedly they could be in production with true Allendales in 2007 though (not sure where I heard that, I think it was on this forum).

The Allendales will be 200MHz FSB CPUs with a higher multi than the 6300. Should hopefully be fantastic overclockers.
