Why are nearly all Intel chipsets Crossfire support?

Surely it would make more sense for Intel to support Nvidia due to AMD taking over ATI? From what I hear as well the only SLI capable mobos on the 775 socket (650i & 680i) will not be compatible to run SLI with the new Intel Penryn cores....

I mean if someone was thinking of going to Intel (why wouldn't you atm) and wanted a dual (or more) GFX card system you would have to go ATI other wise you have NO future support for the Nvidia cards:confused:

Also the amount of choice on the other chipsets is huge to what you do with the 650i and 680i range...

Is this Nvidia being silly? Surely Nvidia could get SLI onto other chipsets other than there own?

I'm not meaning to sound as if I hate AMD or anything but from Intel's persective this is like them feeding the rival...

Why can't you just have SLI AND Crossfire mobo's?
