a quick one for the megadrive (controller extension)

Hi,

just a quick question for those in the know.

ive looked on wiki and it says the contoller connection is a de-9 and looking into it it seems to be the same as an rs232 connection so what im after is if i get hold of a normal rs232 extension cable from a well known electrical parts supplier will it work?

they do sell them on ebay but the only one i can find is £12 yet the de9/rs232 cable is about £3

Hmm, I can tell you this: When I had an Amiga and a Megadrive (both use the same port, infact I used the megadrive pad on the Amiga) I had a joypad extension for it. I also had a philips monitor for the Amiga that also used the same port. The joypad extender worked extending the monitor lead! although there was some picture loss but it worked fine. So I'm pretty sure it would work

I could even use my spectrum kempston joystick on the mega drive. Wasn't the best but it worked with limited buttons.
