Hi there. I am about to go from an AMD 3800+ to AMD X2 6000+. Rest of the system is 2Gb DDR2 800 Ram and a Radeon X1900GT.
What performace increase (in real life gaming- not benchmarks) should i expect?

Seeing as you aren't upgrading your GPU then I doubt you will see a lot of difference. Assuming you haven't overclocked the 3800+ then minimum/average FPS will be boosted some and you might find games like Oblivion are a fair bit smoother.

As always it depends what *style* of game u play?

I think RTS style games will benefit most from your CPU upgrade but FPS style games won't improve that much as your still gonna be GPU limited (unless u play at 1024x768 etc).
