Im looking to upgrade my pc a fair bit by getting a new CPU, RAM and heatsink and just want someones opinion on the following...
i am currently running this set up:
Asus M2N-E mobo,
AMD Athlon 5200+ CPU (2.6Ghz),
HD 4870 1GB, 2gb 667 unbranded RAM,
750W power supply,
500GB hdd

I am keeping the same mobo and want to firstly get new RAM and a new heatsink to see what i can squeeze out of the athlon. I will get a new CPU at the end of summer when i have spare cash and looking at what is available today i will either get a phenom tri core 710 or 720 black edition.

But i am not too sure about RAM, could someone please recommend one of these 2 because i am not really sure as to what the difference is besides the name and the cooling:
Corsair XMS2 DHX 4GB http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-184-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=813
Corsair XMS2 4GB http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-136-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=813
I am leaning towards the DHX as it is cheaper and looks better :p

Also a am looking for a new heatsink for preferably £20, was thinking this as it gets good reviews http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-000-AR

Thanks a lot

either, DHX fins tend to get in the way of my drive cage in my case so not a fan

but its a hunk of money and I suspect you will not notice the difference unless you overclock the memory

4gb may cause windows to have a fit if your running 32 bit version

To be honest, if your spending £40 on RAM you might as well get something faster like this Kingston PC2-8500. Its clocked at 1066MHz compared to the ones you linked too which are 800.

As for heatsink, £20 is a small budget but I think the one you linked too is the best for that money :)

right ok, will just go for the standard then.
I am running 4gb of RAM in this system and it is 32 bit and it's fine, xp just doesn't 'see' the 4th gb

I would do but the mobo only takes RAM clocked upto 800MHz

Would i notice a fall in speed if i went for soem cheaper ram?
