Hi guys,

I was wondering, can I use the upgrade version of windows 7 to do a clean install (I don't mind losing all my files from XP)?

I know that the windows 7 update package comes with "clean install" via the custom install button but I'm still un-sure to as whether this will work or not. Also, would I need my windows XP disc during the install?

Thanks

Hey mate.

From what i have read and tried yes you can use the upgrade to do a clean install (Ive installedd W7 pro x64 on a wiped clean HDD using the disk i ordered for £9 but others have made their own disks and done the same). I didn't need my XP key atall for this.

Anything else you might want to know i think you will be able to find out here http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18055613&highlight=cheap+windows

Alright mate, thanks for the information. I guess it's a shame I left college a few years back and didn't go to uni, full price tag for me! :(

Cheers though

Just had a look about buying the software, I was wondering, why are there 2 different versions if you can do a clean install from the upgrade package?

The versions I'm talking about:

* Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium - Version upgrade package
* Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium - Complete package

/confused.
