Hi all,

I need some advice :)

My Girlfriend and i, have just got back from vegas. She has a canon ixus at the moment with a 2x optical zoom ( 3 - 4 mp i think)

Now the zoom on the camera isnt good enough, we also thought it might be time to invest in a digital camcorder. Now looking around i see that digital camcorders have 10x + optical zoom.

What would the quality be like of the stills with a camcorder? As my girlfriends camera is fine for the normal posing shots.

Hope that makes sense? I've been up since 6am yesterday :)

Generally terrible 640x480 affairs.

Some of the higher end camcorders are ok though.

If you're looking to effectively merge the two devices you might want to look at the sanyo VPC-C6E , which is absolutely tiny and takes snaps at 6MP. With the price of SD cards so low nowadays its even more of a good buy.

<confused> in what way? you don't lose quality with optical zoom, only digital zoom. It's got 5X optical zoom though the image stabilisation's not supposed to be amazing.
