I have a AMD64 x2 5000+ (ADO5000DOBOX) and would like to buy 4gb of ram.
My motherboard say it is compatible with up-to ddr2 1066mhz, is the cpu compatible with that memory or am I being a noob and it doesn't matter?

I have tried searching with google etc, but cant find the answer. I just don't want to make a mistake when ordering my ram (was looking at http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-039-KS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=817).

Thanks for your help :)

It's an MSI K9A2VM-F V2. I know its a cheap old thing, but im not in a position to upgrade it at the moment. I want to upgrade my ram as I'm moving from windows xp to 7.

Computer says yes :).

Make sure you get the 64 bit version of windows 7 so you can make full use of all your memory.
