A raid question

I have a server that im currently building, My question is if I buy 2 or 4 drives and setup raid 1 or i think its 5? could I then buy a raid card and add 2 more drives?

My plan is to have 6x2TB Drives in the end giving me 6TB with everything backed up.

Its a tricky question, but if your using Hardware raid then.. Odds are No.

Most hardware raid systems (unless your really bursting the bank) wont allow you to grow/resize a RAID array non-destructivly.

Some software RAID systems like in linux (mdadm) will allow you to grow/resize/change RAID levels but its very time consuming and not without risks.

If your stuck your best bet is to create the array now, then when you want to expand do a full backup, destroy and re-create the new RAID array with all the disks inserted.
