I got a 5850 Extreme 1GB about a month ago, which was DOA so I replaced it straight away. Now the new one is having problems too.
Occasionally when I boot up, the GPU fan will spin at 100% and no display will be shown.
Now I know that the fan spinning at 100% is a safeguard when it hasn't posted right or something, but this only happens intermittently, but less likely to happen on a cold boot.
I have seen other people with this problem but I don't know whether it is the capacitors in the card which are faulty or the voltage supplied by the PSU (750W).
Has anyone heard of this issue and know which component is broken?
I know I have missed some info, so ask and you shall receive, I would really appreciate some help as I am a student and can't really afford to go round replacing everything to work out what is broken.
