A realistic budget

Hi guys

First time posting and a bit of noob when it comes to hardware so im looking for a bit of advice.

What do you recon a realistic budget would be for a system primarily used for gaming? I would like to be able to run current games at reasonable settings. Any advice on specific hardware that i should or shouldnt skimp on would be much appreciated to.

Really depends what you want from it. Read the guide at the top of this subforum like thrifles said for a rough idea. If you want something that will be able to play most games probably around £500, if you want something that can tear though games on max settings probably more £1000.
