Hi guys just wondering if there is a router or application that can combin 2 internet connection. example 2 cable connections .

I know people have asked this question before but mainly with ADSL.

i know it might be complex to for something to use both connections to double the speed.

cheers

Some modems that can take third party Linux firmwares such as "OpenWRT" can do dual wan.

Basically the switches on most of these routers can be made to do anything on any port firmware allowing. Theres nothing special about the ports on the switch, it's all down to the firmware designating them as lan ports.

Sorry I cant actually recommend a stock dual wan router straight out (Im sure some exist though), but I know that a Linksys WRT54G-L will take OpenWRT (www.openwrt.org).

Thank you for info. I never knew that ports can used for inputs.

trying search for some who has tried this. That router aint expensive. I do have a spare belk router (cable one and ADSL2+ modem router). Maybe i can use of of those?

Edit: I have seen dual wan routers, now will this give me double speed/bandwith? i'd be downloading from fast servers like newsgroups

"The 2 ports that are available on the ProSafe allow you to use 2 identical Internet connections. If you have 2 DSL or cable lines, you can plug them in these ports and the ProSafe will allow you to use them as failover ports, providing continuous service, even when one connection goes down, or as a load balancing system.

The latter case enables you to almost double the speed of the connection because the ProSafe will take the two WAN connections together and work out for itself how to route the traffic going through them. Very useful and very powerful, although you do need to make sure you have the latest firmware to make this work well.
