Hi there,

Last year my girlfriend and I purchased a tent called the Jura from Blacks, which is basically a double skinned dome tent for two people. Not very big, and getting dressed/eating etc was always a very cramped affair.

Now we're looking for something bigger, preferably a tent we can stand up in, have a table and chairs, and have a seperate room for sleeping in, and another room for day time stuff - eg have a table + chairs in there.

Does anyone have any suggestions, we have a budget of £300ish.

Cheers

I think whatever size you get, get a 1 man+ tent. 2 man tent is that, just enough room for 2 when lying down. It's all very cosy but not exactly comfortable.

Jack Wolfskin

we bought the Ocean View II, i think its called, excellent tent, well made, stood up to very very strong winds. We often use it without the inside bedroom divide and its great open plan. love it wouldn't go back to our small vaude again, although that is a lovely tent too :p

so i would recommend both vaude and wolfskin... :D

Me and the GF got a nice sized tent, we went for a week round NW/N scotland it was great! Prob not the normal tent for only putting it up one nite at a time, but we managed just fine.

its a 4/(if u go 3 at each side)6 man tent, but was good for just us two.

Got it from Yeomansoutdoors, dont look like they doin it any more but this one is close: http://www.yeomansoutdoors.co.uk/products.asp?recnumber=67
or a 6 man in there clearence section, maby too big for you at 3 sleeping areas, but bigger is better! http://www.yeomansoutdoors.co.uk/products.asp?recnumber=1378

Have fun!!!!

personally is it just for you and missus cause thing about tents if you get a bigger one could always have few friends in .

Tables? Chairs? STANDING UP?

This is not camping! Just get yourself some trees, some shelter sheets, and some bungees, then you'll be living the life!

Huge:

More sensible (stand up height, one man can put up easily etc):

The vario is simply huge - you could use it at weddings, the columbia is more practical though - only one room but it's stand-up height all the way through and you can sit inside / cook etc if you move your bed in the day.

The vario is a 2 man job - I've never tried to put it up myself and don't think I could, the columbia is quite easy to do on your own though, with practise you'll have it up before the wife has got a brew going :)

I reckon you should stick with your small one. If you're spending £300 on a tent then you might as well not be camping tbh - you could get a bed each in a youth hostel for a fortnight with that!
Part of the fun of camping is 'roughing it', surely? It really bugs me when people arrive at campsites in a huge rangerover and unload half their lounge. IMO you should be able to carry everything you need without too much trouble - those make for the best holidays too :)
(Or maybe I'm just jealous of the people with their huge cars and portable generators.. I'm not sure!)

I'm much the same but then we're forced to be economical with our packing. We get some interesting comments when people walk past our tent of an evening, look at the MR2 next to it and then ask how the hell we got everything in it :D

If you are lucky enough to have a Go Outdoors store near you I suggest you go there. They have lots of tents set up so you can get a proper look around them. They're also the cheapest outdoor store going so deffo worth a look.

Considered Khyam ?

Pretty good and robust tents and really good quality. They have one starting at £295.00 on their website Here

If you have a local Barrons Caravan place near you then you maybe justin time to pick up some of last years models at a good price
