A 'special' offer....

I've been a customer of BT Infinity since it was first available in my area. They keep sending me 'offer' letters to get me to sign a new contract.

And the offer? To pay no more than £3 MORE than I'm currently paying when I sign up for 18 months. Granted this is for 78Mb rather than my current 52Mb.

I had the full speed when I first signed up and the difference isn't worth it to me as I infrequently download large files.

Actually more tempted to switch away to plusnet which is half what I'm paying, albeit only for 12 months.

I had actually expected this service to get cheaper over time. Maybe when g.fast is rolled out more widely.

Switch away BT are in the same league as sky now having to find TV shows by upping prices on other services

I will if I can find a good offer. To be fair the service has been very reliable.

Aye my BT offer was similar. My fathers was up so I rang them, they can do much better over the phone, r certainly did in his case, than they do with their megastupid online offers. Line saver paid the full year in advance saves fair few quid, especially now they have to quote the monthlies including the line rental, which seems utterly extortionate.

Call 0800800030, option 1. Tell them you're not happy with what you're paying, and how Plusnet/TalkTalk/Sky etc are doing a similar deal for £x/month (make sure you've checked the figures).

They went away and gave me a price, I said it still wasn't great - it was still more than I could get as a new customer. They went away again and offered me "manager's deal" (probably just put me on hold and made me think that) - which was my broadband/lineline for the current new customer deal.

I had no intentions of switching away from BT as the service has been great and they don't do traffic shaping.

Good advice, but traffic shaping is so 10 years ago, you'll struggle to find an FTTC provider who routinely does TS at any noticeable level now, traffic prioritisation of latency sensitive packets such as VoIP yes, old style throttling of torrent traffic for example, no.
