I've had my new system going for about 5 months now (QX6700, 8800GTX SLi, eVGA 680 mobo) and while solid with XP it was never stable under Vista. During one of my attempts to fix this i decided to flash the mobo BIOS. The system never comes back, the dual 7 segment displays on the mobo are permanently stuck on '--'. After some experimenting and some reading i realise its RMA time and decide to buy a replacement one while i wait. The replacement motherboard (the Gigabyte 680 one) arrives, i put the base system together and after a very brief spin up of the fans the system stops. I take most of the stuff out (except the CPU) and the same thing happens. Swapped out another CPU and still the same. Ive taken the mobo out of the case so i don't think its shorting but frankly i'm at a loss and would welcome suggestions.
