Just put new desktop in the garden office, literally sat next to my work laptop.

The laptop is getting 65-100mbps with no problems.

The desktop is getting broken connection with a max of 10mbps.

New windows install, new PCI network card with the latest drivers. Any thoughts?

Its a Deco M4 mesh system.

first thought - antenna not connected
second - is card accidentally stuck in 802.11b protocol mode? It used to go up to 11mbs

wifi card is

Asus PCE-AX3000 PCIe Card (Bluetooth 5.0+ Wi-Fi 6 AX3000 Dual Band, 2x Antennas, DFS). Anennas are connected and at the back of the case.

I did get 60 mbps for a moment yesterday, so don't think its its 802.11b protocol!

I would imagine the antennas being at the back could cause some issues. Just for the sake of it, can you flip the PC around to see if that improves things? Is the closest Deco M4 node in the same room, or back in the main house?

i've already got the back of the pc, with the antennas pointing out of the door towards towards the node which is back at the house. I don' think it's a signal issue as the laptop which is next to the PC is getting up to 100mbps.

What orientation are the antennas set at? Vertical should be stronger in most cases assuming the WiFi is on the same/similar level. And adding on to previously mentioned, make sure they're not loose.

Can you check what Windows says about the WiFi status, such as if it's connecting via 2.4GHz or 5GHz, and the speed it's connecting at.

They're pointing straight up and not loose. Wifi status saying I have IPv4 connectivity with a speed of 650 Mbs, well it did until it dropped completely again.

Its now saying I can't connect to the network at all.

Just to reiterate, get 100mbps on laptop with no dropping out and its next to the pc (same distance from the node).

Just making it clear, since the laptop is fine it's definitely not a signal issue on the Deco side. It does seem however some sort of issue on the receiving side. Have you tried reinstalling the drivers for it?

Is powersave on?

Is the card just faulty? Few reddit reports say the antennas on this specfici card can fail.

I'd consider getting a cheap usb WiFi dongle and seeing if the speeds improve.

Have you tried turning it off and on again? :p I've had some pci WiFi cards before and some of them are just crap when used at a distance.
Yes multiple times.

Yes, just ordered a usb dongle from amazon that's arriving today to try that.

Thanks all.
