A Temporary Speed Camera Collects over £1,000,000

A typical motorway roadworks has lanes the same size as they normally are - the chances of a car drifting from one lane into the roadworks and thus colliding with workers is the same as somebody casually drifing into the barrier from the outside lane - ie virtually zero.
That's true but if someone was to drift then the consequences increase with speed, hence the lower limit.

If you don't break the speed limit you don't get fined.

Thanks for that one, had no idea until you reminded us of it.

If you don't like the speed limit, vote for a party that will impose limits that you do like.

I did. Unfortunately, due to the way in which the parliamentry system in this country works, my vote was wasted becuase 95% of the people in my 'area' love Labour.

Bottom line:

A speed camera alone makes absolutely £0 in fines.
It can only make any kind of money with the help of you - the driver.
So, if a camera makes £1,000,000 then you've got nobody to blame but the driver.

Precisely.
