I have a Dell S2716DG which has performed well until this week. The last 3/4 days, on first power up, about a third of the lower right hand portion of the screen is in shadow. It is not always black, but fades away into the shadow. I assumed it might be the backlight in that area, but a few times it has also appeared on the left side.
I can clear it by changing rsolution, (most times), and once in a while, rebooting or powering off and on it is OK. I have moved the cable onto another socket on my GTX 1080 ftw, but it is the same. I have also cleared it by switching the monitor on and off. I have had the monitor about 5 years, so perhaps it is time to replace it, but just before Christmas is not a good time for me, and I want to be sure it is the monitor and not the GTX1080 card, (oh no not that please). Once it has cleared it is fine all day, not even a flicker. I have tried reseating the graphic card and associated power cables.
Anyone had this experience?
Well, took the back off and checked any connectors I could reach. It worked OK for a day then blink, it was in shadow again.
Edit Gave up and now have a nice new monitor, much better.
