m using:Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3(F5_bios)...Intel Core 2 Duo E6400...Freezer 7 Pro...2GB Corsair DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX...7900 GTO...

Right now ive got my processor running @ 3.23ghz (FSB @ 405, multiplier @ 8, Ram running @ 810mhz with 5,5,5,12 timings ive got =0.1v on fsb, mch & PCI.e, & +0.2v on ram, vcore to 1.375v.
at these settings everything is stable, But the processor temps are a touch high, they generally hover about the 60-61 degrees mark at full load, but will touch 65 now and then! (temps via core temp). (testing via orthos etc)
what i am planning is dropping my multiplier down to 7 and upping my FSB to 450 (ish) this would put cpu @3.15ghz and drop temps a touch, but would up the FSB and ram speeds considerably, (is there any mileage in this course of action?)
now firstly im concerned that the FSB chipset might not realy like that sort of abuse, as it has no Active cooling, (can it take about 450 mhz long term?)
also would i need to slacken the ram timings (say, 5,5,5,14,or 15) to handle the speed increase? (& what if any affect would slackening the timings have on performance, mainly gaming?)

secondly, recently i set my Mobo to sound an alarm if my CPU hit 60 degrees, during testing, coretemp registered 65degrees before the mobo alarm sounded, i always thought that coretemp used the same temp sensors as the mobo? which one should i trust! or maybee the best bet is somwhere in the middle of the mobo, and core temp?

Tho 65c with Orthos isn't too bad.

The DS3 will handle 450mhz without any problems. You may have to give the FSB and MCH voltages a nudge. The northbridge will get hot, but nothing that it can't deal with. Set your PCI-E Freq to 105 too.

You probably will have to loosen the memory timings to get it to run at 900mhz, providing that it will run at 900mhz.

As for whether it'll be any faster than what it is now, you'll have to benchmark to find out.
