Yes again :D

Tyres getting low all round and I'm gonna get them replaced before the winter. Local place can do me for 300 or so all in. Blackcircles can do me 240 for the same tyre - no brainer really :)

However how do I choose the best tyre out of the lot that are available to me?

Local place offered me Pirelli P6000 Powergys and from a little searching everyone here seems to have Goodyear Hydragrips :o

Is there much difference between them perfomance wise?

The car is nothing special (Seat Leon 1.6S - woohoo for min spec \0/) but I don't fancy being short on grip :)

Whats the best tyre right now? Size is 195/65/R15

Ta :)

Although I wouldn't necessarily go for ultra budget no name 'ditch finders' I don't see the problem with buying the cheaper end of the known brands.
Blackcirles will do the Hydragrips for £56 each (fitted) so you may as well go for them.

I have P6000s on my Focus at the moment, they're okay in the dry but TERRIBLE in the wet. I get understeer at very sedate speeds, do not get these for a winter tyre!

Not a no brainer if the local place charge you £15 per tyre for fitting, balancing and disposal of old tyres though.

Exactly - this was my point in my recent tyres thread - no idea where people are getting tyres fitted cheaply but most places I got in touch with are wanting £10 - 15 a tyre fitting

Worst tyre I have had ever in ...erm well over a decade of driving. Unimpressive all round and shocking in the wet. Believe it or not if someone offered me them for next to nothing I wouldn't have them let alone what they are charging.

Eh? The Blackcircles quote is for four tyres fully fitted including disposal of old carcass.
I think Psymonkey meant that it was a no-brainer in that he's saving £60 over the local place. The fact that BlackCircles will fit them in a local garage for that price anyway suggests that he'd be silly to pay anyone else for the tyres.

How does that work then?
I thought they just provided the tyres.

Have a look at the Toyo Proxes T1-Rs

Very reasonably priced and a great tyre to boot

Not available in 195/65/15 :(

Could I get away with using 195/55/15? (They are available in that size :p)

Not sure - your speedo would be out a little bit as the lower profile will mean that the wheel's circumference is slightly less

Not sure what else you'll notice

£6 fitted and balanced at my local garage and thats with my wheels which are awkward to balance due to having no centrecap, usually its £4 fitted and balanced. They also look after your alloys well and use stick on weights rather than those hammer on ones. If someone asked for £15 to fit and balance a wheel I'd tell them to FO!

Get Toyo T1-R's in the 195/55/R15, it is exactly the same size as mine, so far I have found them to be excellent tyres.

If your considering 55 profiles I can recommend the Falken ZE 512's on blackcircles.com from my limited experience of them. They've got them at £51 fully fitted at the moment.

righty - ordering when i wake up in the morning :o

still can't decide on the 65 or 55 profile thingy but have got it down to 3 (yeah ta lordrobs :p)

Wrong size: (55 profile)
Falken ZE-512
Toyo Proxes T1-R's

Correct size: (65 profile)
Goodyear Hydragrips

Price difference is negligable :)

Help me :(

Stupid indecisvieness

T1-R > Hydragrips.

I'd have the Toyo T1-R every time. Hydragrips are a mid range tyre whereas the T1-R is at the top of the range for all round road tyres.
