Hi,

First time poster and a new venture for me into the world of build it yourself!

I have a budget left of about £700 for a gaming PC (would like to play games on high settings) that will have enough grunt to get through a small bit of video editing and photoshop etc...

I already have a Zalman Z9 plus case, 256 Samsung SSD, 1TB HDD, Asus Sound card, Wi-Fi card, DVD Drives, Corsair TX 650 PSU, Windows 7, Monitor, Keyboard and Mouse.

I need:- CPU, GPU, Motherboard, Cooler and RAM

I can go above £700 if needed but I basically have that left to play with.

Looking forward to seeing some of the options and most importantly getting to build it!!

Cheers,

Steve

The 3570K is still good enough for some video & photo editing and is great for gaming... Not sure if you plan on overclocking (maybe invest in water cooling?) or want Crossfire/SLI? No need to spend silly money on a motherboard as most users don't even use all the features offered... The Asrock one seems good value for money (with still plenty of features and breathing space for SLI/Crossfire etc. :)). I'm using the HIS Radeon 7950 and i think it's brilliant! If you prefer nVidia, then maybe go for a GTX 670? As for the memory, most RAM these days is quite reliable regardless of the brand (and most, if not all offer a lifetime warranty)... Choose something faster with heatspreaders if you intend to go crazy with overclocking, otherwise the cheap GeIL stuff will be just fine

That's really helpful and under budget too! Just need to check the dimensions of that graphics card so that it definitely fits the case! Any pros or cons with AMD cards vs Nvidia?

It's a beast of a card (biggest i've owned), but it still fits in my Micro-ATX case ;) (In Win Dragonslayer - stupid name and ugly, but very practical with good cooling and well built :)). Both brands have pros and cons, but it's mainly down to preference and cost as both brands have cards that trade blows with eachother. My partners rig has a GTX 660 Ti and i know my 7950 is noticeably faster most of the time, but her card supports PhysX which can be used in a handful of games ;)
