I'm sorry to say that if I wanted a 1440p monitor, I'd get a Korean one. The prices are untouchable.

The build quality and features is not comparable, plus the most important factor, a 3yr on-site warranty.

Feautes, sure but build quality? They're fine. With the way some people talk about them you'd think they were made from used toilet paper.

They're better build quality than Hazro monitors.

Iiyama, dell, Asus are in a build quality of their own league.

Korean, DGM Hazro are in another league. Better than Hazro, maybe some but the all metal housed ones, not a chance.

Your welcome to your opinion but I'd pay extra for Asus, iiyama or DELL anyday and also have the backup that should it break in 2yrs I can make a phone call and have a new monitor on my doorstep within a couple of days.

Don't good ones like X-Star use Samsung panels? They are fine quality wise, the screens themselves are just as good. They might lack some features that most won't touch but they are about half the price of ones to buy here.

I would love to buy one from the UK, but they are too expensive.

The world has like 5 panel manufacturers, Samsung, LG, AU optronics and a couple of others. Panels the. Get graded A, B etc.

Then there is the controller, PCB, power supply, chassis, stand etc. etc.

The panel is only part of the equation, the quality you say is fine, for you. It might also be fine for others but some will also feel they are cheap and the chances of failure are far higher, we know as we have staff out in China/Taiwan, we could import them easy, we don't and with good reason as failure rate is higher, not necessarily higher than other budget brands such as DGM or Hazro but there is no European warranty, we'd be on our own and as such to cover failures we'd have to add a lot of margin, neglecting much of the savings.

We have our own data, also data from our sister company in Europe and data far east, the more expensive big name brands are without a doubt far more reliable and have excellent on-site warranties, this peace of mind is worth a lot. As such we've left the cheap Korean monitor Market to the EBay of this world, but don't ever compare them to a DELL, Asus or Samsung as they simply don't come close in build quality, reliability, features and warranty in my oppinion.

The Korean/Chinese Market is nothing like Europe or the UK they love cheap stuff and don't care quite so much for quality lime us Europeans do, we know we do have offices out there and some of the tablets, monitors we get offered are mind blowing, we get samples and they would simply not be acceptable to many of our customers.

The main point is most people who buy a decent high-end monitor keep it for 4-6 years, big brands have a very low failure rate during this period, whereas the cheaper brands are more than twice as likely to fail, sometimes even higher. I'd not be buying a cheap no brand monitor with no warranty or short term warranty, just no way. Off course as always they don't all fail, just the percentages for failures are higher on lower cost monitors fact. Remember it's not the panel that tends to fail.

I'm not saying they are as good, they obviously aren't. The chassis feels cheap and they are less reliable. But they are half the price, I could buy two for the price of this one.

Less is more is a perfect phrase though, I'd rather quality item that has a low chance of failure with a great warranty, I'd happily pay a lot more for this, of course some won't and prefer the lower cost option as it's hard to resist.

When was this sold at the higher price?

You miss the point, you can't advertise it at a discounted price when you have never sold it at the higher price.

But then we'd never be able to do a Pre-Order only special, which we've done for years.

Easy to get around, we could just change previous price to the price will go up £50 once they land, same thing.

Oh come on! Good quality 27" 1080p monitors can be had for £165 and as for 24" try £135. The gap in price between 27" 1080p and 27" 1440p is far larger than it should be. I see nothing 'stupidly good' about paying £420 for this monitor, they have been out long enough to have dropped at least below £300 and with 4000k on the horizon I feel 1440p is passing us by. Only my opinion.

4k is very hard for monitor manufacturers at present due to 60Hz being a must, Asus have managed it but in a way which is neither low cost or mass production.

1440p won't be passing us by for a long time and the big brands won't be dropping sub £300 this year or next year.

If you want 1440p cheap, you go lower quality and lack of warranty with a Korean monitor, OcUK is always looking for a good 1440p monitor going cheap with warranty, right now nothing but we are always looking......
