Hey folks I'd like to know if there's a program that I can use to monitor what bandwidth my internet is using up so I can figure out if Virgin is capping me at certain times. I have used NetMeter but that only registers the pc that its installed on and not the whole network - I have a my GF's laptop and the xbox on the network wirelessly. Is this even possible?

Also do you know what the limits are on Virgin Media's 20meg service for capping, had a look on their website but maybe I'm not looking hard enough lol.

Cheers

You will have to have a gateway/proxy which has monitoring built in, for that you could use a variety of linux solutions which are free but require a spare pc with a couple of network cards in it.

Funny enough I'm actually using a WRT54GL for the house so will try the tomato malarky!

I have never really messed about with routers and software before but is it easy to install this tomato firmware and will I just need to input my network name and passcode again?

cheers

If you mean for the wireless, then yes. Tomato comes with a default config which you edit in the nice GUI.
