Been reading this thread on XS for ages.

looking hopeful for those that still have AMD chips on a way to unlock them.

anyone willing to try if they have a DFI mobo?

Didnt jokester do this before. After he took the fx57 out and put in an opty of some kind the multi was unlocked but then after messing too much it failed to put unless put to the stock multi.

on the thread linked above, the person who did this has probs with the chip overheating and has had to RMA it now.

am half tempted to try this tho. use my 4400 X2 to get a higher multi for my 3800 X2 :D

Yeah, I had this happen twice with the same chip (148 if I remember correctly), multipliers were unlocked upto about 19 or 20. Sadly it only lasted until I reset the BIOS.

sounds like this multiplier unlock is something that can be incorporated into motherboards themselves. but they will get a lashing from AMD for sure. hacked bios anyone??
