Hello

I need a new pair of tyres in 225/45 R17. They are replacing some continental sportcontact 3s.

A quick look on blackcircles reveals SC5s to be £113 per tyre, fitted. SC3s are £115 per tyre fitted, and I assume that the 5s are better than the 3s?

Is there anything else to consider? For example Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 are £105 fitted and the Falken Azenis FK-453 are £90 fitted.

The car is a Saab 9-3 TiD estate and I drive fairly liesurely...

Get the F1AS2's they are equally as good as the SC5's but since they are £8 per corner cheaper it's a no brainer.

Personally if it was me I would be getting Michelin Pilot Sport 3s at £115.

Why? Pilot Sport 3 was not a direct replacement for pilot sport 2.

Ps3 replaced pe2 and ps2 was replaced by pilot super sport Iirc.

I thought they were the mid range tyre Michelin did so not really comparable with CS5 and goodyear assy2

I never understood the pilot sport dislike on here.. Although they are more expensive I've found they wear better. And if you look at various magazine/organisation reviews they are very comparable to the usual tyres recommended on here. Calling them mid range is laughable.

Looking at the formal reviews the comments don't show a great deal of difference in the cited tests between the two but the customer feedback is quite significantly in favour of the PS3s

Just my feeling about it, like Amos said I don't think theyre mid range at all theyre excellent.
