A Wii disapointed.

I've been saying the Wii is just a novelty from the off and finaly people are seeing it for what it is. And for nintendo games well you can get a GC for next to nothing and the games look just as good as they do on the Wii, If you want to play N64, SNES and Nes games why not do it through emulation on a XBOX.

That is what everyone said about the DS when it was released. Look where it is now, it is the handheld platform for both the hardcore and casual gamers. It offers something for everyone, is a good price and works very well.
It too was coined as a novelty after it was released.... until the good games that made proper use of the touchscreen started to be released.

It is the games that are the novelty, not the controller. When the games come, that is when the controller will come in to its own. The lack of software is a problem, so far nothing has really shown off the console for what it can do. Developers have used it's success as an excuse to do shoddy ports with appalling graphics. Sonic and SSX are better attempts but Sonic could have been done on the GC, only just though.
There is nothing "novelty" about the input method in itself. It has the potential to be hugely innovative and hugely entertaining.

Cooking mama will be one of the first games to really give a gaming experience that can not be done on any other platform.

Sell them if you like, you will still get a very good price and can purchase again when they are cheaper and when the games are out for it, but don't write the Wii off. I will almost guarantee that many of you that sell it will probably buy one again once the games catalogue starts building up.

As for trading one for a PS3... i really don't see the point. it offers nothing that the 360 doesn't and the launch games, whilst there are a few good ones, are not exactly staggering. If it wasn't for Sega, there would be pretty much nothing worth buying.

I'm considering getting rid of mine as well. I've got a Wii, 360 and a PS3 and to be honest the Wii doesn't get touched. There's a serious lack of decent games and nothing interests me at the moment. Part of the reason I bought one was just to have all 3 consoles so I wouldn't miss out on any exclusives but right now it's not looking like that'd be a major loss.

What I am shocked about is that there's still a huge demand for them - I don't see how it's still selling so well with only a handful of good games? It's shocking. If some decent games come out (that is, proper games, not just a bunch of ****** minigames) then I might change my mind.

I honestly think Nintendo should stick to what it's best at (Games & Portables) and do what Sega have done and release there games for other consoles.
What Nintendo do best is make a profit and they absolutely spank Sony and Microsofts gaming divisions at that. They provide what the general public (not us sad geeks whining on forums :) ) want and reap the rewards :)

That's a shame, I was expecting great things from the Tiger Woods game.

Well it seems a love/hate thing. Some people really like it.

I'd wait for 08 for a purchase to be honest. It should hopefully be properly implemented and not a rushed port like 07.

Well obviously the demand is from the people who haven't played or bought a console yet... so tht explains that point.

Besides, gimmick or not, if the Wii sports games do get people who don;'t normally play games... such as parents and old people then that's a ood thing right? It's widening the market.

Indeed... what do they make on each console? Id say it is at least $60.
6 million units at $60 nets them a cool $360,000,000.
That is a profit that the MS games division has never seen!! Dunno about spanking the Sony division though... during the PS and PS2 hey days their gaming division was raking it in :)
