Since i switched to usenet, i never use torrents anymore.
For big files, i hate having to upload as well as download, when my upload is slow. Not to mention my router doesn't like them - long torrent processes invariably force me to have to reboot my router at some point. I never was able to find out why.
So there might be good reasons why the OP didn't want a torrent link. A simple direct download link is far easier, especially if you don't already have a torrent program installed, and might have to fiddle with firewall and ports to get it working adequately.
