1tb hard drive .all running on a dell 2407 rev04 ,and play all games in 1920x1200

have roughly 300 towards the cpu/mobo/ram.

CPU:- http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-301-IN&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=1272 £139.99

Mobo:- http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-206-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1495 £106.98 [any other suggestions would be appreciated, P55 mobo's aren't my strong point knowledge wise]

Ram:- http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-176-OC&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1387 £80.99

Overall:- £327.96

You could shave an extra £15 or so with ram and mobo, you'll be getting a pretty cutting edge setup there too, the i5 range is very good.

thanks
i was just looking at this AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition 3.20GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail [HDZ955FBGIBOX]

154.99 inc VAT

is this a good chip or is the intel better

The op would need a seperate cooler with that build, as you've specced him the OEM cpu. If £300 is your absolute maximum you want to spend, then it might be better to go with the AMD. If however you can find another 50 quid or so I'd go with the Core i5.
