so, after a while of running my HD 5830 it was sold in a rig with an i7 as he wanted a dx11 capable gpu, i then went to a gtx 295 just as it was going cheap, i liked the way it looked , but it was cheep for a reason and very badly refurbished (temps hitting 105 degrease after less than a minute of furmark. then 4 days later only one of the two gpu's was functioning, i sent that back and got a refund, and since i had sold my spare card (HD 4850) in another rig then i was back to my only pci gpu, a nvidia gs 240.
Now, this is the bit that actually may interest people. One night, as always i was stupidly browsing ebay.. looking at faulty tat, when i noticed a 3gb radeon 7950, in no way had it been tampered with in any way, it was vtx branded, so i got the serial number and after several emails vtx decided they would accept a rma. so i went for it, put a £150 bid on it and woN!
hurrah!, i finally have a good gpu, new gen. but then all went **** up. i received a wii remote attachement in mistake. turns out they sent my parcel to the wrong person, who would not make any reply's.
so im now left £150 short and a item worth 99p...
So i contacted the seller, and he sent me a fully working 7950. again.... to the wrong adress. it had now been three weeks, i was getting frustrated.
i kept emailing them, and today in the post i received a fully working asus 7950 DCII. all that power for £150. PURE WIN!
