Never had the pleasure of going to Cornwall before and yesterday I had to drive down there for a funeral.

But wow, the A30 - What a road - long and lovely dual carriageway and just tempts you to put your foot down.

Of course I kept the 335i to the speed limit all the way unlike some others ;)

What are your other favourite roads in a similar vein ?

A82/85

Fun road to drive if its quiet especially the 85 with some of the best scenery in the uk

It's a pain in the backside when you get near Bodmin and it cuts down to one lane, traffic's always heaving there. Be careful going back though as there are speed cameras near Exeter :p

The A46 between J9 of the M5 and Stratford's a bit like that in places, bizarrely wide lanes on each side but good fun to drive.

A30 and A303 are lovely roads. They'll be full of caravans this weekend though!

Always too many cars on there for me to enjoy the A303. Got on it once about midnight and that was nice but even then that only lasted a little while until I ran into traffic, couldn't believe it, thought I'd have a clear run.

Go to Newcastle, then drive anywhere West through to directly North and I'll guarantee you'll find great driving, lovely views and nice stop offs for dinner / fishing / camping.

The A30 is depressing. 2hrs down the M5 and then another on a Boring Straight road with the addition of camera Vans.

Not to mention where it goes to single carriage way and people try to jump the caravan in front.

A30 is a great road. Always seem to open up a bit more when on it. Doesn't help matters that the M5 to A30 connecting road is a beautiful corner which i always keep to a 30 on.

Very dangerous though and some people forget that it's basically a motorway for Cornwall. Sadly, two cyclists died this week on it this week when undertaking a Lands End to John O'Groats charity event. I couldn't help but feel it was poorly planned to go down the A30 personally.

There is a load of good roads in Cornwall. Just got to find them.

Mylor to Perranarworthal is a good drive. https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Pandora+Inn,+Restronguet+Hill,+Falmouth,+United+Kingdom&daddr=Norway+Inn,+Truro,+United+Kingdom&hl=en&sll=50.194852,-5.064236&sspn=0.007548,0.014055&geocode=FaTp_QId1Lmy_yH0C_z1zBp4YCmfVQmR4TxrSDH0C_z1zBp4YA%3BFY0X_gIdwfGx_yFkUTfu1mtQGyk_kplIwyJrSDFkUTfu1mtQGw&oq=Norway+Inn&t=h&mra=ls&z=15

A30 is nice in places (outside of emmit season), although not terribly exciting.

Some brilliant roads up here in Scotland. Love going for a blast in the Prelude down the A709 and A708 from Edinburgh to Moffat. Lots of corners, fast bits in between and pretty good visibility for much of it. And a beautiful backdrop :)

Love the drive up to Skye as well, the A87 is amazing. Even the A9 is great if you can get on it at a quiet time, although I understand why a lot of people hate it.

I take the rib to the pandora, much more fun and no speed restrictions :D

the carricks are the greatest roads, not an ounce of tarmac on them either :p

Agreed the A30 is a boring road in places, I too prefer the twisty roads. But it made a nice change when I did it out of hours on the way to and back from Newquay. I just had to open her up a bit in the 335i :)

Good fun in a 44 tonner too ( VERY early in the morning).

Lots of Rozzers in plain wrappers down there in the day though.

Isn't the A30 or A303 where Stone Henge is?

Personally I love driving up to see my family in Norfolk as there are son great roads there.
