Eurgh. I've been tasked with creating new log books at work. My very limited knowledge of Office is already getting in the way so I'm hopinh you guys can help :)

I need a 50mm wide A4 folder spine template. Our Word is locked down so there are very few templates and the ones that are there don't fit. Anyone know where I can get one or how to make one from scratch?

aka: "dear gd, how do i life?"

Thanks :D

Not exactly certain what you mean. You want paper inserts that you'd put in the plastic sleeve of a ring-binder style file holder? E.g. something like these?

http://www.herma.co.uk/en/service/f...s/design-templates-for-file-spine-labels.html

You should be able to just draw a text box on the page and click on the properties of it, setting it to the width that you want (click the drop down to change from percentage to metric). And you can put anything you want in the text box re. images, styling, rule lines, etc.

When you save it, just Click "Save As..." and switch to Template in the drop down file types options.

Don't know if this helps as I feel I may have misunderstood the question.

That's exactly what I need. Either in Word or Excel. I've tried resizing a page in Word to 50mm x a4 size (29.xcm iirc) and it's not having it. I can put the company logo on the left of the page but I can't add any text to the middle, if that makes any sense.

Can you explain where you're getting stuck with this?

I'm assuming the printer is loaded with A4, so you don't need to change the paper size at all!

Just make a text box in word that's 50mm wide to act as a guide, then just put whatever you want in it, print it, then trim it with some scissors.

Yeah don't do that unless you're actually printing on paper that is 50mm x 290mm :)
