Hello guys I'm new on this forum~

I current have this setup with 1GB(2x512)PC3200 Kingston Value RAM. My OC #'s are as follow:

CPU: 2.2GHz stock -->2.62GHz @238; 40'c idle
FSB: 952+/- MHz
RAM: 188.6MHz (x2) @2.5-3-3-7 2T
M/B: Latest BIOS voltage@30'c idle

I have Venus12 CPU Cooler at max spd with 4 more case fans...

Now, everything runs fine at 2.62GHz but if I raise the FSB as much as 1+, either the programs/games will crash/auto shut down or the system will reboot and fail at 1st POST unless I manual-reboot.

My question is, what else can I do to this setup in terms of OC? And what would be the most ideal way to cool it off?

Thank you any suggestions/tips will be appreciated~

hi there m8t, if its the k8vse delux i think you are talking about ( socket 754) then you should be very happy that you even managed any overclock with it.

the reason is that the via k8T00 chipset boards do not have AGP/PCI locks. meaning that when you overclock the fsb the agp/pci frequency increase causing stress on you computers components, like you gfx card for example.

Ahh...I see...that's what causes the games/apps to crash because there's too much stress on the VGA card, correct?

I have an ATI X800Pro 256MB @475MHz/450MHz. It becomes very unstable if the FSB goes beyond 238...

So this means I'm out of luck right? T__T

Time for another upgrade.....

That is just talking about the AGP frequency, PCI overclocks hard drives, PCI devices (sound cards etc) the lot, you really have to have some form of AGP/PCI lock to overclock.

Afraid so, i had that exact mobo and a 3000+ along with an x800 and am now sat with a DFI RDX 200 / 4000+ @ 3.1 and an x1900 - all for £320 inc del ! so it's not that bad ... it'll prolly be less now and depending on what you choose :)
